ABOUT THE WHITEFOX CHRONOGRAPH
The WHITEFOX Chronograph is named after the 1st Helicopter squadron, call-sign 'Whitefox', in the Swedish Air Force. The watch is the result of a collaboration between MALM and the Whitefox helicopter squadron aiming for a customized wrist watch with inspiration collected from their NH90 helicopter. The NH90 is a medium-sized, twin-engine, multi-role military helicopter purchased by the Swedish Air Force in the late 90's. It is developed to fulfill NATO requirements with high capability in naval environment as well in the cold harsh environment found in northern Sweden.
By using a black carbon dial and a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating, the Whitefox Chronograph is heavily inspired of the durable carbon and composite airframe in the NH90 helicopter. Applying this thin DLC layer adds hardness to the entire surface of the watch, protecting the case and bracelet from scratches and other forms of wear. It also prevents dust build-up, protecting parts and reduce friction between watch components. The carbon dial adds a unique and luxurious look to the complete watch face with indices, subdials and hands collected from various gauges and details in the NH90 cockpit.
